Hi, I’m Doug. I just moved to Santa Monica from Chicago (by way of 7 years in North Carolina), and I’d love to do some hanging out with local TTRPG gamers. …maybe get involved in running some games eventually.
I discovered gaming in 1977 with D&D and was completely taken with it. When Champions (superhero roleplaying) came out, I dove into it hard. Eventually, I started doing freelance work for Hero Games and then became line editor for Mayfair Games’ Role Aids line of AD&D supplements. After leaving Mayfair, I settled back to just running one-shots at GenCon every year and lately a small 13th Age campaign for my players in NC (soon to be remotely). For various reasons, I don’t play as much as I used to, but I’m very much a supporter and enthusiast of other people’s games and game producing.
Outside gaming, I’m primarily a professional artist and graphic designer, specializing in ceramics and mixed material sculpture. Looking forward to enjoying the art scene in L.A.
Hi, and thank you! I’m happy to hear there are folks nearby. I’d love to get together sometime… maybe get coffee or beverage… and learn about the local goings-on.
Hi all! I am Michael, a software engineer in the Del Rey area of Los Angeles. I am a lifelong gamer. I have many board games, TTRPG, and video games that I have each spent many hundreds of hours playing and am still terrible at. I grew up with dialup MUDs, then discovered D&D. My click of highschool buddies played a lot of one shot Rifts, Paranoia, AD&D, and GURPS. We still get together once in a while for a good long night of Axis and Allies. Lately I have been playing X-wing miniatures, despite having discovered the game only right after it started dying as a scene.
I am just now getting back into the TTRPG hobby after running LMoP for my wife and 8 year old son and a couple of friends. It has been a few years since I last played. My life has been a pattern of playing for a few years, then life gets in the way.
I’m looking forward to the conversations here and hoping to meet some of you across a table soon!
Taha here, and i gotta say, a forum is awfully appealing in this moment. I used to spend a lot of time on yog-sothoth.com and a lot of lurking on rpg.net.
Actually rpgnet was where i first went by Taha, my real name is Yunus.
It’s been a while since i’ve actually run anything or played. I was moved to compose the following list of titles that have been rattling around my heart…:
game aspirations:
Whispering Vault
Classic Traveller
Diaspora
Mothership
Unknown Armies
Call of Cthulhu campaigns: Horror on the Orient Express, Beyond the Mountains of Madness,
13th Age: Eyes of the Stone Thief, also fleshing out my own Icons
Fiasco
My Life with Master
Sorq: my mythic underworld setting, which is in need of the right flavor of D&D
Vaults of Vaarn
Electric Bastionland/Into the Odd
Ultraviolet Grasslands & the Black City
a ‘pure’ OD&D sandbox, with lots of procedurally generates hexes and occupants…
Gaean Reach
Dying Earth (Pelgrane version)
Dying Earth (DCC version)
Skullduggery (generic version of Pelgrane system, after they lost the DE license)
working on an anticanon setting inspired by Yoon Suin involving finding immortals and getting their positive attention.
I live in San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas, and hope to run in person games here for folks interested in flexing their gaming english. Sadly it will be a while before my spanish is up to roleplay levels.
Stumbled in from rainbow osr, name here is the same as there. Been rpg’ing since I was 6, so about 32 years now. Will play pretty much anything. Like the creativity side of the osr but am not a diehard by any stretch.
Howdy! I’m edward, and I’m primarily a writer. Have a number of novels published, with several more coming this year.
Unlike a lot of people in the RPG world, I didn’t grow up with RPGs but instead got into them as an adult. Love the spirit of collaboration that goes with gaming, especially. Excited to be here!
For those interested, we’re running our first RPG crowdfund right now! Briar Bay is a setting zine for Mork Borg and other OSR system inspired by dark fairy tales and folklore. We’re fully funded and inching towards stretch goals right now.
Hi - am arriving here from the purple/rainbow OSR discord - same userID across the web.
I am based in Vienna, occasionally in London for work, Dublin for friends/family. Have been gaming over 30 years now. Help run a local gaming society here in Vienna, mostly trying to help new folk get into the game off the back of the movie, Baldurs Gate 3, Stranger Things, etc.
Hi! I’m Griffiana. Arriving here from the Purple/Rainbow OSR discord. Want a forum so bad, bc I miss so much good stuff on the Discord.
I’m from South Africa, born, bred, raised and educated. Living in Cape Town. I first came across TTRPGs when a friend of mine tried to make a ?skirmish game based on XCOM. I then found a the Red Box Set of 4e and played a short game of 4e with friends. I am not a min-maxxer and my friends were, so it was a mildly disappointing experience.
I then climbed onto G+ roundabout when the new Fate Core came out? I fell in love with it. Found the OSR scene and blogosphere from there. Now here I am!
I am far more a fan of streamlined “NSR” type OSR games and some cleaner B/X hacks, but my deep true love is Troika!
Hey! I’m Feather and I’m here from the Rainbow OSR Discord.
I’ve been playing ttrpgs now for nearly 10 years in one way or another. I’m an American who’s recently moved to the Czech Republic after everything so I haven’t managed to connect with many in the space but I love ttrpgs of many sorts. I’m currently playing a long campaign of Lancer and looking to run some indie titles like Daisy Chainsaw and Flying Circus. I also love OSR games especially those derived from 0e like Songbirds, FMAG, and Whitehack.
I also have an interest in wargames, leaning towards historicals, having played Chainmail in the past though hopefully looking to play DBA 3.0 or one of the Osprey publications!
I discovered this place via a thread on the OSR subreddit. (I’m primarchofistanbul there). And since I enjoy the forum-style discussion more, I signed up. I hope this thing lasts and prospers. Let’s see where it goes.
I’m just getting back into the hobby. I live pretty close to the West Side (WeHo) and would love to meet people and get into some non 5e games. Even just one-shots, trying new systems. I’m part of the Westside TTRPG Discord Server, but am relatively new there. Always down to chill with other gamers.
Always glad to meet someone from this side of L.A. There’s a monthly hangout coming up on the 27th, at 7:00, at Auld Fella in Brentwood. It’s a nice way to meet others in the area.
Hi all! I’m fairly new to the hobby. I’ve been refereeing semi-consistently for 3 online groups over the past year. I’d love to play in person and see how other people run games, so if any of y’all are located in or have connections to the Twin Cities MN scene, please let me know.
Allow me to link my blog. It’s less than a month old, but I’ve got a decent amount of stuff on there already. I’m writing a sector for classic Traveller, I’ve got some dungeons on there, a couple of essays about play, that kind of thing. I tried to link those things directly, but the board isn’t convinced I’m not a bot yet, so I can’t. Here’s a scoop: I’m about to post a Hell-crawl in the next few days hopefully.
As a heads up, I don’t really talk about systems, or engage with them if I can help it. That’s just me, you do you. But also: get a map and key it imo.
Outside of TTRPGs, I have strong opinions about card games and board games, mid-century American poetics, 90s multi-camera sitcoms, Catholic mysticism, and Elvis Costello.
My name is Bryce, and I live in Seattle. I came here from the Rainbow OSR Discord. I’m one of those people who got into TTRPGs via 5e and actual plays but have since branched out to other games and styles of play. I’ve mostly settled on OSR stuff and various old D&Ds as my preference, but I’m open-minded. I’m currently running a couple of 5e games irl and playing in some old-school games online. My plan is to try and get my irl tables into some retro dungeon crawls once those games wrap up. My interest lies more in the DIY side of the hobby than in products.
Outside of RPGs, my hobbies include gardening and brewing.
